Nelly Furtado | "The World" Interview [Audio]

Nelly Furtado’s ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ Draws Inspiration from the Arab Spring
Canadian singer Nelly Furtado found the inspiration for her latest album in a lot of places.
There was the trip she made to Africa with the group “Feed the Children” and the book she read by Chilean author Isabel Allende, about a slave rebellion in Haiti.
Even the uprisings of the Arab Spring inspired a song on her new album, “The Spirit Indestructible“.
“I wrote the songs during an incredible year of change in the world. There was the Arab Spring, Occupy, overcoming natural disasters, tsunami, financial crisis. I mean there was a lot to draw from,” Furtado says.
