The Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society presents Nelly Furtado with Neil Osborne and Alex Cuba

The Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society presents Nelly Furtado with Neil Osborne and Alex Cuba live at The Royal Theatre Monday July 25, 2016.

The Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society presents internationally acclaimed singer Nelly Furtado, who will headline the PHOENIX: Syrian Refugee Fundraising Concert, featuring 54 40’s Neil Osborne and Latin Grammy winner Alex Cuba. Nelly Furtado is not only known for chart-topping music, but also for significant acts of benevolence supporting the development of young musicians, as well as assisting the plight of refugees.

The Victoria Symphony will be supporting Nelly Furtado’s performance with truly original orchestral renditions by American composer Sean O’Loughlin. Adding to the star factor and definitely the musical texture of the night will be the legendary Neil Osborne, front-man of Canadian super-group, 54 40. Alex Cuba, whose career is soaring with his ground-breaking new album ‘Healer’, will make this night a truly special one for the Immigrant and Refugee Centre who are locally known for years of Latin-Caribbean festival events in the1990’s that made Victoria a world focus for Latin music. It was because of Afro-Cuban jazz greats like Cuba’s father, Valentin Puentes, that VIRCS was able to present world-class festivals. “In many ways this is a home-coming and, it’s to help welcome new neighbors in need – what could be better?” said Alvaro Moreno, VIRCS Settlement Director and musical veteran of Kumbia, a favourite Victoria-based Latin music ensemble.

Tickets starting at $65 – available at the Royal McPherson Box Office and rmts.bc.ca (starting June 24, 2016)
