Being a style chameleon is pretty much a prerequisite for pop stardom (see also: Madonna, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga). And although the aforementioned ladies might be the loudest of the bunch, all is takes is a look back through Nelly Furtado's eclectic fashion history to see that this Canadian singer deserves a spot right alongside these crazy-cool frontrunners, too. The musician first burst upon the music scene in the early '00s wearing boho skirts in her epic "I'm Like a Bird" video, but it wasn't long before she swapped maxis for sneakers and sporty t-shirts in "Turn Off The Light." In other words, this girl was a style shapeshifter from the very beginning. Nelly hasn't slowed down since- musically and otherwise- rocking crop tops and flared denim in "Maneater," a frilly minidress in "Say It Right," and tons of bling in "Do It" (not to mention, an equally amazing red carpet style). Hot on the heels of her newest vid, "Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)" off her forthcoming album Spirit Indestructible, Nelly popped by MTV to fill us in on her old prom dress, her sewing family, and why she's STILL obsessed with neon.
