Just a few hours ago the Kenyan Boys Choir gave a performance at our Kisaruni All Girls Secondary School, where local community members and 300 Me to We volunteers had gathered. Then Nelly Furtado provided a surprise performance when she added her amazing voice to an acoustic rendition of “Powerless,” with the boys singing along in unison.
It was like a mini-We Day in Kenya!
Nelly also shared that the community had decided to call the new all girls’ secondary school she is supporting “Oleleshwa.” The word is symbolic of a local plant that survives in all seasons, even in times of hardship.
