Nelly Furtado Receives Platinum Album In The U.s. And Puerto Rico For Her Spanish Language Mi Plan

Mi Plan, Which Was Released In More Than 30 Countries Including The Us, Latin America And Europe, Has Sold Over 400,000 Albums And Over 500,000 Digital Tracks, Including Ringtones.

MIAMI, FL (February 22, 2010) – Multi-awarded Canadian-Portuguese singer songwriter, Nelly Furtado continues to receive accolades for her fourth studio album and first completely in Spanish “Mi Plan”. Furtado was presented with a Platinum album for the sales of “Mi Plan” in the United States and Puerto Rico. She has already been awarded Gold albums for “Mi Plan” in Mexico, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Russia and Switzerland.

Last week was an eventful week for Nelly Furtado, besides being awarded a platinum album; she also performed the first single of “Mi Plan”, “Manos Al Aire”, for the first time on Latin mainstream television on one of the highest rated airings of Premio Lo Nuestro, Univision’s premier prime time award show. To close a very special night Nelly took home the award for “Best New Artist”.

Mi Plan is a collection of songs full of rhythm, feeling and sensations aimed to hit the heart and soul of her audience, despite language. Also found on the album are amazing collaborations with top artists from diverse countries and musical genres: Josh Groban (“Silencio”), Alejandro Fernández (“Sueños”), Juan Luis Guerra (“Como Lluvia”), Julieta Venegas and La Mala Rodríguez (“Bajo Otra Luz”), Buika (“Fuerte”), and Alex Cuba (Mi Plan).
